Osteopathy
Osteopathic practitioners treat a wide variety of health problems throughout the whole body including the musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous and visceral system. They do not just treat the symptoms or areas of complaint: they treat the individual as a whole functional unit.
Some of the most common complaints that osteopaths are able to help with are:
neck and back pain, sports injuries, headaches, whiplash, postural problems, occupational injuries, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, arthritis, knee and foot pain, pain during pregnancy and post partum care.
One of the goals of osteopathy is to bring the body to equilibrium. For athletes, this means preventing overloading and becoming injured. For non athletes, this means feeling better by not accumulating tension and poor posture that could result in other problems, like a chain reaction.
Seeing an Osteopathic Practitioner does not require you to be injured since it is beneficial to have your posture assessed to assure that the body is in proper equilibrium.

Acupressure
Acupressure is a therapeutic technique rooted in traditional Chinese medicine that involves applying gentle pressure to specific points on the body. By stimulating these acupuncture channels, acupressure promotes relaxation, alleviates stress, and enhances overall well-being. It can help relieve pain, improve circulation, and support the body's natural healing processes. During a session, you can expect a calm, soothing environment where your practitioner will use their hands to apply pressure to targeted areas, helping to restore balance and harmony in your body. **Acupressure is covered under acupuncture benefits for some extended benefits providers, we can direct bill some insurance providers, but not all. Please check with your plan if you intend to submit for insurance coverage.**

Reiki and Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient wholistic technique. Reflexes in the feet directly correspond to glands, organs, systems and parts of the body. Thumb or caterpillar walking, hooking and twisting are ways to work and relax the entire foot. This way body systems can function normally as they are meant to. Reflexology is a practical and non-invasive practice.
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique that facilitates physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing by connecting with the universal life energy that flows within us. Your practitioner will gently place their hands directly on your body or slightly above to move the energy throughout your body and unlock the soothing and balancing effects of Reiki.

Wendy was certified in the 80’s with Touch Point Reflexology on the Mainland. She hails from northeast UK. Your body is wondrous. It holds an innate ability to restore and maintain physical, mental, and emotional wellness. If you are not functioning at your highest capacity, a helping hand can gently guide you back. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine bodywork can provide support and guidance to restore this natural healing process.
My treatments are tailored to your individual needs at each session, integrating acupuncture, with other traditional Chinese medicine therapies. This may include therapeutic massage (Tui Na), cupping, diet therapy (Shi Liao), auricular medicine, laser treatments (for people averse to needles), and electro-acupuncture to support the body’s natural healing processes. Chinese medicine is a holistic practice. We generally start with treating symptoms, but ultimately, our goal is to address the root cause, returning the body to harmony. This is true healing, it doesn’t just cure symptoms, but prevents disease. This level of change requires commitment and patience (after all it took your body many years to get here) but will pay rewards throughout your life with improved health and wellness.
My life’s path was changed in my 20’s with a back injury. When the pain did not resolve, my doctor said, “We’re not very good at this; you may as well try something else.” I sought help using different treatment therapies. Through that journey, I saw my body heal, not just the back pain, but many areas coming into better balance. I came to deeply trust in the body’s wisdom to heal. I learned that with the right guidance, imbalances in the body can be addressed, and it can get back on course to function at its highest capacity. My curiosity about the different treatment methods and ways practitioners worked caused me to change paths. I left my career in environmental engineering, and for over 25 years, I have been immersed in holistic health and lifestyle practices. In Chinese Medicine we call this Yang Sheng, nourishing life.
I came to acupuncture from a very scientific lens. My “left brain” seeks to understand the how and why, keeping me up on current research and constantly learning. Over the years, my “right brain” has taken a seat at the table, allowing better integration with that which we can’t yet explain. Let’s start with a deep trust in your body’s innate wisdom to heal and combine evidence-based clinical practice to get you feeling better.
My holistic practice emphasizes pain relief, digestive health, mental and emotional well-being, women’s health, stress management, fatigue, and overall wellness maintenance. I have undertaken specialised training in treating menopause, and auricular medicine. I also use electro-acupuncture where appropriate for complex internal and neurological conditions.
I invite you to explore a different path to health and wellness and look forward to supporting you. With over 25 years of experience in holistic health, and 6 years as an acupuncturist, I am passionate about providing caring and effective treatments to help you reach your health goals.

She continued to explore working as a Registered Kinesiologist and one-on-one with neurodivergent youth while achieving her Diploma in Applied Holistic Nutrition from IHN in Vancouver. A fascination with the links between disharmony and the body’s adaptations to food led her to work as a Holistic Nutritionist and personal cook for the following three years.

Nicolle is no longer accepting new ICBC patients
Nicolle has been practicing massage therapy since 2016.
She first gained experience at a popular spa in downtown Victoria, then worked as a mobile therapist in the lower Vancouver Island area on and off all the while growing a very busy practice at a multidisciplinary clinic for 5 years before joining the team here at Aurora Health and Wellness in 2022.
She has taken a wide range of continuing education courses. From Lomi Lomi (Hawaiian massage) to diving into the world of pain science and understanding its relations to acute injuries and chronic pain conditions.
From her experience at the spa, she was able to perfect her rhythmic flow while combining it with a therapeutic/athletic type approach to create a well rounded and rejuvenating treatment.
Nicolle tends to favor moderate to deeper pressure with active techniques while including the clients natural and functional body patterns, yet always working within the client’s comfort zone. She is also able to accommodate the lightest of touch for a more relaxing or gentle type of treatment if the client prefers.
The techniques she typically uses are General Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy, contract/relax type stretching, tapotement (rhythmically tapping with different parts of the hand), joint mobilization, assisted breath work, along with deep tissue massage for clients in need of this type of pressure and release.
She has found that her style of treatment has a positive effect on her clients physical concerns, treatment goals and mental wellbeing by establishing an all around trust, limiting guarding, enabling tissue release to further decrease the perception of physical pain.
Nicolle is described as pleasantly professional, a nurturer by nature and meticulous with a curious mind while providing a space where all people can feel relaxed and accommodated.
In her spare time, she can be found raising her growing family, cheering her kids on and enjoying the many wonders that our beautiful planet has to offer.

Dr. Verena McCrae Dr. TCM, RAc, BA
Hello, my name is Verena (pronounced Verenna). Growing up in the tropics of South America, I learned to value our innate connection to nature from an early age. As a kid, my family and I explored the wild, visiting places like the Amazon Rainforest, and swimming in the Caribbean Ocean on weekends.
Feeling the ways in which we are connected to the natural world instilled a deep sense of wonder for my surroundings from an early age. Now, as a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this wonder has become central to my practice and my everyday life; just like in the wild, our bodies, systems, organs, and emotions are intertwined, and when we fall out of this connection, we start to feel unwell and see signs of an unhealthy environment within ourselves.
Despite leaving my homeland for Canada at age 11, Venezuela left a lasting impression on me and taught me the importance of connecting with our natural world. This reverence for nature led me to find my passion for health and wellness; first, I studied my bachelor of psychology at McMaster University while playing University Volleyball. Then, upon moving to Vancouver Island to be closer to the mountains and ocean, I received my acupuncture license in 2010. Discovering TCM made me feel like my world made more sense. This new lens—one which reinforced the intuitive knowing that we are part of nature, not separate—inspired me to continue my studies at Pacific Rim College in Victoria, BC, where I became a doctor of TCM in 2015.
I relate to this way of health and wellness with every single part of me. I love how this ancient approach to medicine supports the mind, body, and spirit—helping to address not only physical ailments, but their emotional and spiritual roots, too. Each of us has the ability to heal, and I feel honoured to facilitate this process of healing within my patients.

Chris is not accepting new ICBC patients at this time
Chris has been a practicing RMT since graduating the WCCMT program in 2016. He understands that no matter our lifestyle eventually pain, tension or injury occurs. Chris’ practice is outcome focused, meaning he aims to take you from where you are to where you want to be. Whether that is a reduction of tension or an improvement of mobility and physical performance. Strategies he uses includes: manual therapy, patient education and exercise. Chris has a strong passion for movement and is a dedicated learner. He constantly seeks new information to improve and evolve how he can help you in these ways. To date he has completed over 270 hours of additional training/courses outside of graduating WCCMT.
Chris’ treatment style may be unlike other massage experiences you’ve had. He employs treatment techniques that can require patient participation and feedback during these techniques is highly encouraged and vital to engaging targeted musculature. Primary techniques used are influenced by Chris’ additional training, which include deep tissue and myofascial release.
Please note: while many can find this treatment approach relaxing/relieving by addressing concerns brought to treatment, Chris’ treatment differs from a sedative Swedish relaxation massage.
